The ends...

There are many ways of finishing the ends of natural fibre rope, but in our view only two are worth considering.

The “sailmaker’s whipping”, done properly, is absolutely secure and has many points in its favour. Our only real problem is the time it takes us to do it right!

Knotted ends are our choice for a combination of speed to make, security, good looks, and practical usefulness e.g. when attaching a new length of rope in the Japanese style. That’s why our ropes come with thistle-knotted ends (yes we can do triple wall knots and etc., but we prefer not to...)

If you don’t like knotted ends, you can always cut them off and do your own thing Our ropes are long enough to allow for that!. Frankly, it’s much simpler for us to do just the one thing rather than offer lots of alternatives, and that’s one of the ways we plan on keeping our costs down.
